Error description

  • After reloading a large HDAM database with HP Load, the
following pointer errors are reported by HP Pointer Checker:
         MSGFABP0470E MSGFABP0960E
HP Load attempts to place a RAP for synonym in the overflow
area, and does not establish synonym chain when the synonym
is placed into the block - whose block number above 4GB boundry
is the same as that generated by randomizer.

After reloading a large HDAM database with HP Load, the
following pointer errors are reported by HP Pointer Checker:
      MSGFABP0470E MSGFABP0960E
When a synonym is placed into the block just 4GB away from the
root segment in the twin chain, HP Load misidentifies as they
are placed in the same block. As a result, HP Load attempts to
place a RAP for the synonym instead of chaining, and pointer
errors are occur. Other kinds of pointer errors are possible
depending on RAP number and prefix length.

Problem conclusion

  • The module HPSRPTRS has been modified to handle block number
correctly when a synonym is placed into the block just 4GB away
from the root segment in the twin chain.
