    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: HPIC Image Copy function generates an *
    * image copy from damaged OSAM data set *
    * which is not usable for IMS any longer. *

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
HPIC Image Copy function generates an image copy from damaged
OSAM data set which is not usable for IMS any longer.
Because HPIC does not consider the DS1LSTAR field in the DSCB of
an OSAM data set, and can not find that the OSAM data set is
    damaged.
For imformation about a DS1LSTAR field for OSAM data set,
    refer to IMS V8 Admin Guide : DB ( SC27-1283 ) Appendix 1.3
(Appendix C) : 'Using OSAM as the Access Method'.

    HPIC has modified as follows:
    - HPIC Image Copy function checks the DS1LSTAR field in the DSCB
of OSAM data set to distinguish whether the empty data set is
      damaged or not.
    - HPIC Image Copy function does not generate an image copy
if 1st data set of DSG is empty OSAM data set. Because it is
not suitable for IMS database data set.
    - HPIC Image Copy function does not support the empty data set
      for FASTIC=(,COPY) process.

Problem conclusion

  • FABJDOPN has been modified to check DS1LSTAR field in the DSCB.

FABJDFCN has been modified to call FABJDOPN and check DS1LSTAR
    field.

FABJDPSN and FABJFCDN have been modified to handle legitimately
empty data set and damaged data set correctly.

FABUITCT has been modified to add new flag for empty check.

The following modules have been reassembled:
FABJAPIM, FABJCMDB, FABJCRC3, FABJDCTL, FABJDEMP, FABJDFC7,
    FABJDFC8, FABJDFC9, FABJDMP7, FABJDMP8, FABJDMP9, FABJDPS7,
