  • While attempting an EXPLAIN from a COBOL program on Admin Tool
panel ADB222 a SQLCODE104 (SQLCODE -104) is encountered.

Local fix

  • Use alternate explain.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
* USERS AFFECTED: Users of DB2 Administration Tool, who use    *
*                 the function  "Run or Explain SQL located    *
*                 in a program"  from  ADB222 panel, may be    *
*                 affected                                     *
****************************************************************
* PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: While attempting an EXPLAIN from a      *
*                      COBOL  program  on  panel ADB222 a      *
*                      SQLCODE -104 was encountered.           *
****************************************************************
* RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
****************************************************************
There were 2 problems which caused SQL -104 error.
.* Lines  retrieved  from a source file in NUMBER ON COBOL mode
   were processed like lines from source file in NUMBER NOCOBOL
   mode.
.* If  INTO keyword was the last word of the line in the source
   file it had not been recognized by the program.

Problem conclusion

  • Apply the fixes.
