Error description

  • The DB2 Administration Tool GEN command fails with a SQLCODE
-873 / SQLCODE873 when the default encoding scheme /
DSNHDECP ENSCHEME is ASCII.

Local fix

  • Change DSNHDECP: ENSCHEME to EDCDIC and include the CCSID ASCII
clause in DDL when creating objects.

Declared Global Temporary Tables are using in GEN for catalog
access. These tables are joined with catalog tables.  For the
queries to be successful,  the CCSID of the Global temp table
must be the same as the catalog;  otherwise a SQLCODE of -873
occurs.

Problem conclusion

  • ADB2REP has been changed to correct the problem.
