Error description

  • While testing DRF Beta and Incremental Image Copy batch function
    - stop a database and take a batch image copy.
    - start the database, and enter online transactions which will
      update the database
    - /DBR the database without NOFEOV, which produces a SLDS
    containing the database updates.
    - start the database.
    - submit the batch DRF IIC job.

    - ** batch DRF job goes into a wait state and displays the
      following message -
FRD6003I SYTUND SYTUND AUTHORIZED BY PROD
    LOCAL FIX:
If a /DBR is done to the database, then the DRF batch job
completes. This is not how it is expected to work. This DRF
resolution is in support of IMS APAR and HPIC APAR.

DRF has been changed to take both batch and concurrent ICRs
(incremental image copies). If all the required logs are
available, the image copy is registered to DBRC as batch and the
RUNTIME is the current time. If only a subset of the required
logs are available, the image copy is registered as concurrent
and the RUNTIME is the latest stoptime of all the log data sets
used. The STOPTIME of this image copy is the current time.

Problem conclusion

  • DRF has been changed to take both batch and concurrent ICRs
(incremental image copies). If all the required logs are
available image copy is registered to DBRC as batch and the
RUNTIME is the current time. If only a subset of the required
logs are available image copy is registered concurrent and the
RUNTIME is the latest stoptime of all the log data sets used.
The STOPTIME of this image copy is the current time.

If there have been no changes since the last image copy, meaning
that an image copy record with the same RUNTIME exists, DRF
issues message FRD6022A with the reason IMAGE COPY ALREADY TAKEN

Message 'FRD6003I dbname AUTHORIZED BY ssid' is issued when an
ADD control statement is processed if any of the databases are
authorized. This is partly for information only. This message
is no longer issued when OUTPUT(ICR) is specified.

Incremental image copies to a specified time (or what would be
called timestamp incremental image copy) are not allowed. The
RCVTIME parameter on the START control statement is not allowed
when OUTPUT(ICR) is specified. Error message FRD6124A INVALID
DATA ENCOUNTERED. KEYWORD: RCVTIME RSN=SPECIFIC VALUE OF
RCVTIME IS NOT ALLOWED FOR AN INCREMENTAL IMAGE COPY is issued
and the job fails. An image copy can be created as part of the
normal recovery process, but an incremental image copy is not
    designed for timestamp image copies.

DRF has also been changed to call auxilliary utilities with the
correct list of DBDSs and areas to be processed. Only those
that can be recovered are passed.

    ----
The following changes are made to the IMS Database Recovery
Facility for z/OS User's Guide and Reference Version 3 Release 1
    manual number SC18-9407-00.

Message FRD6022A adds a new reason:
    IMAGE COPY ALREADY TAKEN
OUTPUT(ICR) option was specified, however there have been
no changes since the last incremental image copy was
        taken.

The System action for this reason is:
This is not an error situation but an informational
        message. No action is required.

Message FRD6124A adds a new reason:
SPECIFIC VALUE OF RCVTIME IS NOT ALLOWED FOR AN INCREMENTAL
    IMAGE COPY
The OUTPUT(ICR) option was specified and RCVTIME was
specified on the RECOVER START input control statement.
This combination is not allowed, an incremental image copy
cannot be taken to a specified time. If a timestamp recovery
is desired along with an image copy, remove the OUTPUT(ICR)
        option.

On page 72 under the IC option of the ADD control statement,
there is a paragraph beginning with 'Only the batch image copy
feature of HPIC is available ...' After this paragrpafh, add
    the following:
When the OUTPUT(ICR) option is specified, the incremental
image copy created may be batch or concurrent. A concurrent
image copy is created when only a subset of the required logs
are available. The RUNTIME used to register the image copy
to DBRC is the latest stoptime of all the log data sets used
as input. It is not necessary to stop the database for an
       incremental image copy.
