    * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the maintenance for this APAR. *
    ****************************************************************
This APAR provides the better performance of the Prefix Update
function by saving the number of I/O operations in the following
    cases;
    1. HPPR is run for databases with zero counter values in logical
parents on the conditions that the DBIL is specified in the
Prereorganization utility, and that UPDLPC=NO is specified in
FABYIN or a site default table.
    2. HPPR is run with DBIL though the prefixes of the logical
parent segments with logical children are not affected during
    reorganization.
    3. HPPR is run for databases with zero LC pointer values in
    logical parents.

This APAR also enables HP Prefix Resolution to support the
following control statements by the site default table
    (FABYGBT0);

     o ALLOWLC
     o ALLOCLP
     o DBRC
     o OPRTLC
     o OPRTLP
     o UPDATE
     o UPDLPC

Problem conclusion

  • Code changes have been made to improve performance of the Prefix
Update function and to support the control statements described
    above.

     YES
Specifies to update counter fields of the logical parents
    | also when they have no logical children. When you delete
    | all of the logical children of a logical parent during the
    | DBIL-type reorganization process, you must specify this
    | parameter.

    | Note: The performance of the Prefix Update function will
    | decline by specifying this parameter.

     NO
Specifies not to update counter fields of the logical parents
    | that have no logical children.

    |Note: The default value of the UPDLPC control statement can be
    |changed. For details, see "Site Default Option" in topic 4.0.
