Error description
SRG does not check the allowable upper bound of the number of input keys, which is 16 mega (=16,777,216). As a result, when the number of input keys is 16 mega or greater, the following problems occurs. If the number of input keys in the key file is equal to 16 mega, MSGFABO0204A is issued and the job ends with RC08. If the number of input keys in the key file is 16 mega plus 1, An ABEND0C9 occurs. If the number of input keys in the key file is greater than the above, MSGFABO0116A is issued and the job ends with RC08. Unpredictable results occur.

As a result, when the number of input keys is 16,777,216 or greater, the following problems occur. If the number of input keys in the key file is equal to 16,777,216, MSGFABO0204A is issued and the job ends with RC08. If the number of input keys in the key file is 16,777,217, an ABEND0C9 occurs. If the number of input keys is greater than the above, MSGFABO0116A is issued and the job ends with RC08.
Problem conclusion
The module FABOCOMP has been modified so that the message MSGFABO0211A will be issued and the job will end with a return code of 8 ( RC08 ) when the number of input keys in the key file is 16,777,216 or greater. ************************ * Documentation Change * ************************ IMS Sequential Randomizer Generator for OS/390 V1R1 User's Guide ( SC27-0926-01 ) should be changed as follows: Chapter 2. Operating Instructions Input Database Key File * The fllowing item is added to the list of characteristics of database key file. - The allowable maximum number of non-duplicate input keys in a key file for an HDAM database, a PHDAM partition, or a DEDB area is 16,777,215. Appendix G. Messages and Codes SRG messages * The following new message is added: FABO0211A NUMBER OF INPUT KEYS IS 16,777,216 OR GREATER Explanation: The number of input keys in the key file is 16,777,216 or greater. The allowable upper bound of the number of non-duplicate input keys is 16,777,215. System Action: SRG ends processing with RC=8. Programmer Response: Reduce the number of keys in the key file and rerun the SRG job.
