Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: All QMF for TSO and CICS V810 users. *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Poor performance is experienced when *
    *                      using QMF with DB2 V7 or V8             *
    *                      compatibility mode databases.           *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    The performance problem occurred because indexes (a non-matching
    index scan) were not being used during the execution of static
    SQL in DB2 V7 and DB2 V8 compatibility mode databases. There
    were incompatible data types between QMF host variables and
    base table database definitions. This data type incompatiblity
    caused DB2 to not use indexes.

Problem conclusion

  • QMF code was changed to fix database performance problems
    in the EDIT TABLE, prompted query column describe, stored
    procedure verification, and stored procedure parameter
    checking functions performed by DSQISDB2.
