    ****************************************************************
This APAR includes fixes for following HPIC V4R1 problems:

1 Although the HPIC Recovery function ends normally when the
access method is VSAM and HPIO=Y is specified in the ICEIN
control statement, the IDCAMS VERIFY command for recovered DB
      generates IDC3350I ( MSGIDC3350I ) and ends with RC12. HPIO
formats CIs only to the end of the last used CA, but VSAM
VERIFY process tries to read the 1st CI of the next CA.

2 Although the HPIC Recovery function ends normally, the Pointer
Checker job might met an I/O error. HPIC corrupts database
when all of the following conditions are satisfied:
      - HPIO=Y is used.
      - The access method is VSAM.
      - CI size is 14K, 20K, 22K, or 28K.
      - Database size is over 3 CYL.

3 The HPIC Recovery function terminates with ABEND S30A
( ABEND30A ) when all of the following conditions are
      satisfied:
      - HPIO=YES.
      - The database is a multivolume VSAM data set.
      - Secondary quantity space is not defined for the database
        data set.
      - Extend to a secondary volume.
In these conditions, HPIO cannot get a secondary extent, and
      terminates with ABEND S30A.

4 The HPIC Site Default Generation Utility generates FABJ0114E
      ( MSGFABJ0114E ) and terminates with RC08 when HPIO=X is
specified in the ICEIN control statement.

5 The HPIC Recovery function generates FABJ0003E
      ( MSGFABJ0003E ) and terminates with RC16 when HPIO= keyword
is specified in the ICEIN recovery statement.

Problem conclusion

  • FABJOINT has been modified following things:
    - to format CIs by the 1st CI of the next CA.
    - to be able to extent a secondary volume.
    - to avoid corrupting database.

FABJSTMD has been modified to be able to specify keyword HPIO=
    in the RCV statement.

FABJTGEN has been modified to be able to specify HPIO=X in the
ICEIN control statement of the HPIC Site Default Generation
    Utility.
