Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM IMS High Performance * * Load for OS/390 Version 2 Release 1 * * (FMID=H1IM210) * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: A new control statement OADSPR= is * * provided to reduce the usage of DSP in * * processing (P)HDAM overflow area. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: Install corrective service for APAR/PTF. * **************************************************************** This APAR provides a capability to reduce the usage of dataspace when HP Load processes (P)HDAM overflow area. If you specify the new control statement OADSPR=, HP Load can put the data into the overflow area before putting all the data into the RAA completely. Therefore, you can reduce the usage of dataspace to keep the data to be reloaded in the oveflow area, and can avoid auxiliary storage shortage when you reloading (P)HDAM which is going to have large amount of data in the overflow area. However, HP Load cannot put the data into the overflow area until the information for pointers in the block are resolved. So, this function might not be able to reduce the usage of dataspace depending on the DB. This new function takes advantage of the High Performance I/O Driver. So, if you specify HPIO=NO, HP Load ignores the specification of the OADSPR=, and the function will not be used. And this function does not support IPR Driver Type-A image copy processing.
Problem conclusion
Temporary fix
Comments
A new control statement OADSPR= is added to support the function to reduce the usage of dataspace when processing (P)HDAM overflow area. * ======================== = DOCUMENTATION CHANGE = ======================== IMS High Performance Load for z/OS Version 2 Release 1 User's Guide SC18-9222-01 ( SC18922201 ) should be changed as follows: ---------------------------------------------------------------- 2.0 High Performance Load 2.2 Operating instructions 2.2.3 Control Statements 2.2.3.2 Overview of High Performance Load Control Statements ---------------------------------------------------------------- : +------------------------------------------------------------+ | Table 3.
