Error description

  • The DB2 Administration tool UT line command produces invalid
JCL for the option 1P/DSN1PRNT command.
The dataset name in the SYSUT1 DDname is missing the tablespace
name so the JCL fails with message IEF647I FIRST CHARACTER OF
NAME NOT ALPHABETIC OR NOT NATIONAL IN THE DSNAME FIELD.

Local fix

  • Add the tablespace name to the dataset name.

Problem conclusion

  • UT  line command  produced  invalid JCL for the option
1P/DSN1PRNT  command.  The  dataset name in the SYSUT1
DDname  was  missing  the  Tablespace  name so the JCL
failed  with  message  IEF647I FIRST CHARACTER OF NAME
NOT ALPHABETIC OR NOT NATIONAL IN THE DSNAME FIELD.

Panel ADB2USOF has been modified to correctly populate
the  dataset  name of the tablespace for the situation
described. The reported problem has been solved.
