Error description

  • Unable to image copy several IMS databases after a recovery was
done with DRF 2.1, because the dataset is empty and appears to
be a native VSAM and not an IMS database.
    Example for 1 database:

    IEC161I 072-053,IMSD048I,IBMHPIC GCLOG,GCLOG,,,#IMSI1.GMIS.GCLOG

The dataset was empty, but the ACB for the dataset indicated
    that it was being opened for input only;

DFS301A UNABLE TO OPEN DDNAME GCLOG

    ****************************************************************
Users may be unable to take an image copy or perform other
post-recovery operations on SHISAM or KSDS type databases after
a DRF recovery. When users delete and redefine a KSDS data set
it becomes an empty native VSAM file with the ACB (access method
control block) set to be opened for input only. If the data set
is originally empty and no updates took place against the data
set, DRF does not prep the empty VSAM file to an IMS database.
After DRF completes, it remains as an empty native VSAM file.

Problem conclusion

  • AIDS: RIDS/UTIL RIDS/DBS DBS/UTIL
      DEP: NONE
      GEN:

    *** END IMS KEYWORDS ***
FRXIVCN0 is changed to prepare an empty KSDS for update
processing. In order for an empty native VSAM file to be an
IMS database, a dummy record must be written out to it by DRF
and then deleted. Following this process, the ACB for the data
set will indicate that it can be opened for update as opposed
    to input only.

FRXIICA is changed to refrain from saving a copy of the image
copy record key when no image copy record exists for that block.
    FRXIOCN0, FRXIOSM0, FRXIVSM0, and FRXIVCN0 are recompiled for
    this change.
