PK13977: LOAD CONTROL STATEMENTS GO TO TAPE

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• In DB2 Administration Tool operations like ALC or ALTER RDEF
  cause drop / create scenarios. When a large table UNLOAD goes
  to tape, Admin Tool also sends UNLOAD control cards to tape.

  The load step in a restore job does not have a SYSREC and
  there is no template in the load control dataset. RESTORE job
  fails rc8 for standard UNLOAD and HPU UNLOAD methods with
  error messages similar to:

  A REQUIRED DD CARD OR TEMPLATE IS MISSING. NAME=SYSREC
  UTILITY EXECUTION TERMINATED, HIGHEST RETURN CODE=8
  rc08

  Additional symptoms: cnt cnv unit max dasd maxdasd bp

Problem conclusion

• ALC process has been changed to have correct SYSPUNCH DD in
  UNLOAD JCL. The problem has been fixed.
