PK12745: SMP/E APPLY MAY FAIL DURING LINK-EDIT OF HAA#REF MESSAGE GIM23901E AND IEW2470E

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• SMP/E APPLY processing may fail when installing Automation Tool
  V2.2
  along with maintenance including PTF's UK05201, UK06642, and
  UK06960.
  This occurs because the JCLIN specifies module HAA#REF which
  does not
  exist.

Local fix

• 1) Allow the link edit of HAA#REF to return an RC08. This can be
  done
  by setting the max RC value in the link edit utility to 08 and
  then
  resubmitting the APPLY job.
  
  To allow the RC08, either use these SMP/E commands as examples
  or use
  the SMP/E panels...
  If there is already a link edit utility in the GLOBAL option...
  SET BDY(GLOBAL).
           UCLIN.
           REP UTILITY(IEWL)
               RC(08).
           ENDUCL.
  
  The UTILITY name would need to match the utility that already
  exists.
  
  If there is not a link edit utility defined in the option
  this could be used
  SET BDY(GLOBAL).
           UCLIN.
           ADD UTILITY(IEWL)
               RC(08).
           ADD OPTIONS(ZDSNOPTN)
               LKED(IEWL).
           ENDUCL.
  The OPTIONS name would need to match the option already in
  the GLOBAL
  zone.
  After the APPLY is successful, the return code check can be
  set back
  to 04.
  
  2) If the SMP/E environment can be restored back to a point
  before the
  APPLY was done (or a new environment created and another
  RECEIVE job
  can be run), the following steps can be taken.
  
  REJECT PTF's UK05201, UK06642, UK06960, UK05551
  
  Run the APPLY job.
  
  RECEIVE PTF's UK05201, UK06642, UK06960, UK05551
  
  APPLY these PTF's
