Error description

  • When recovering SVSO areas in DRP (XRC mirroring) get message
    IEC145I with
    413-04,IFG0194A,P9FDRF,S9FDRF,SYS00009,1624,SDL11B,PS.D9F.
    PRIRLDS.HPMORSE.D05265.T1649535.VD3
Noted datasets on these volumes could be browsed.
Added CATDS(Y) to the DRF proclib member and it worked OK.

Local fix

  • Add CATDS(Y) to the DRF proclib member.

    *** END IMS KEYWORDS ***
The module FRXEDRF0 is modified to set CATDS(D) as default.

In most cases, no further actions are required by the users. In
cases where users wish to override the CATDS setting in DBRC,
they may specify CATDS(N). This will force DRF to ignore the
location of log data sets specified in the CATALOG and revert
back to the location identified in the RECON data sets.

The descrption of new parameter and the options will be added to
IMS Database Recovery Facility for z/OS User's Guide
    (SC18-7016-00).

In chapter3, Defining and Tailoring the IMS Database Recovery
Facility Environment, the following description will be inserted
    before the paragraph of READNUM:

    CATDS(D|Y|N)

Y - override the DBRC CATDS setting to look in the catalog
for input data set location information.
N - override the DBRC CATDS setting to use RECON for input
           data set location information.
D - use the DBRC CATDS setting to determine input data set
location information. This is the default.

Use this parameter to instruct IMS Database Recovery Facility
to obtain location information for input data sets (image
copies, logs, and change accumulation) recorded in the RECON
or to use information from the CATALOG. This parameter
allows the user to override the DBRC CATDS flag to determine
input data set location information in cases where some input
data sets are registered with DBRC with CATDS set and others
are registered with CATDS not set or to use the DBRC CATDS
setting to determine put data set location information.

Use of this parameter in such a way that does not accurately
reflect where the location information resides will result in
recovery failing with allocation error messages, FRD4210I.
The return and reason codes in the message indicate that the
data set is unable to be located. For example if the input
data sets are not cataloged but CATDS(Y) is specified or
CATDS is not specified at all, recovery will fail with input
data set allocation errors. If the input data sets are
cataloged and managed by a storage management program such as
HSM but CATDS(N) is specified, some input data sets may have
been migrated and restored to different volumes than the
original ones. This will result in recovery failing with
       input data set allocation errors.
