Error description

  • Users having applied PQ93475/UK00453 may experience the
    following problems:
    1) S0C4 abends in IRTXRInn during a restart if the option
       REATTACH=YES has been specified;
    2) ATTACH occurring incorrectly when an application attempts
       a LINK to DFSRRC00;
    3) S306 abends if the JCL step should be authorized;
    4) Problems with IRTSAMP members including the sample usermods.
       PRF should also be changed to improve handling of restarts
       when the application has not issued symbolic CHKP calls
    with unique non-blank characters to reduce the number
    of U0102 abends.
    5) The bypass checkpoint processing option does not
    get enabled if the customer specified BYPCHKP=YES.

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    Users having applied PQ93475/UK00453 may experience the
    following:
    1.ABEND0C4 in IRTXRI00 during a restart if the option
    2.REATTACH=YES has been specified;
    3.ATTACH occurring incorrectly when an application attempts
      a LINK to DFSRRC00.
    4.S306 abends if the JCL step should be authorized;
    5.Problems with IRTSAMP members including the sample usermods.
    6.The bypass checkpoint processing option does not get enabled
      if the customer specified BYPCHKP=YES.

Problem conclusion

  • Program Restart is being changed as follows:

    1.The requirement to install usermods which update IMS source
      for modules DFSZSC00 and DFSZSR00 is being removed.
    2.Support for the IMS Online Reorg Facility (ORF) is being
      added. The support allows Batch Message Regions (BMP's)
      using database(s) reorganized by IMS ORF to be suspended
      and then automatically resumed when ORF has completed the
      reorganizations without terminating the job step and without
      operator intervention.
    3.Program Restart will use the time stamp restart checkpoint
      ID instead of the 8-character symbolic ID whenever possible
      in case the application program was not generating a unique
      ID for every symbolic CHKP call made.
    4.Program Restart will automatically restart applications based
      on a table of abend completion codes added to the inclusion
      options data set.
    5.During a restart, Program Restart users could experience
      intermittent S0C4 abends in module IRTXRI00 after applying
      maintenance for PQ93475.

    6.After applying the maintenance for PQ93475, users with
      applications linking to DFSRRC00 and also specifying
      REATTACH=YES could go into a long wait after the initial
      PRF ATTACH.
    7.S306 abend in IRTUPX00 could occur if the job step is intended
      to be APF authorized.
    8.After applying the maintenance for PQ93475, the bypass
      checkpoint processing option is not enabled for users
      specifying REATTACH=YES and BYPCHKP=YES.

    This APAR also updates documentation in the User's Guide.
    Before applying this maintenance, customers will need to make
    sure the SMP/E ++RESTORE operation has been performed for
    PRF usermods MRT510D, MRT610D, MRT710D, MRT810D and MRT910D.

    For IMS Version 5 customers, if usermod MRT510D has been
    applied to any IMS Version 5 SMP/E target zones, then a
    ++RESTORE for this usermod will need to be performed.

    For IMS Version 6 customers, if usermod MRT610D has been
    applied to any IMS Version 6 SMP/E target zones, then a
    ++RESTORE for this usermod will need to be performed.

    For IMS Version 7 customers, if usermod MRT710D has been
    applied to any IMS Version 7 SMP/E target zones, then a
    ++RESTORE for this usermod will need to be performed.

    For IMS Version 8 customers, if usermod MRT810D has been
    applied to any IMS Version 8 SMP/E target zones, then a
    ++RESTORE for this usermod will need to be performed.

    For IMS Version 9 customers, if usermod MRT910D has been
    applied to any IMS Version 9 SMP/E target zones, then a
    ++RESTORE for this usermod will need to be performed.
