APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• The inactive datasets following OLR are listed in the Index
  Builder report.  This could be confusing, although the correct
  (active) datasets are scanned to build the index.
  
  Also, the 'A' datasets are used to get the reorg number, even
  when these are inactive.  If the 'A' datasets have been deleted,
  an ABENDS1708 occurs.

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Customer were concerened about IB V2R3  *
  *                      allocating the prime HALDB data sets in *
  *                      it's preliminary control phase. Such    *
  *                      behaviour was believed to potentially   *
  *                      endanger eventually ongoing IMS V9 OLR  *
  *                      split.                                  *

  * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *

  IMS Index Builder V2R3, in it's preliminary control phase, is
  reading offline the first storage bit map block of each HALDB
  prime data set in order to obtain certain control data.
  

Problem conclusion

• IMS Index Builder V2R3 code was changed to no more use control
  data obtained from any HALDB data sets. No HALDB prime data sets
  are allocated offline.
