Problem summary

**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All IMS DEDB FAST RECOVERY Version 2 * * Release 2 (FMID=H1J2220) users who use the * * Nonrecoverable DEDB in IMS V8 and IMS V9. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: This APAR is DFR Version for IMS V8 * * APAR PQ58427 (PTF's are UQ63452 and * * UQ63453) with PQ63408 (PTF's are * * UQ69637 and UQ69638) and IMS V9. * * - PQ58427 * * The first change is to remove SDEP * * support from Nonrecoverable DEDBs. * * Due to the manner in which SDEP changes * * are hardened to DASD following * * application syncpoint, SDEPs in a * * NRDEDB are highly likely to be broken * * (i.e. bad pointers) following a hard * * crash of IMS or the operating system. * * * * The second change is to change * * Emergency Restart and XRF Takeover so * * that NRDEDB AREAs that are found to * * contain errors ARE NOT stopped and * * marked recovery needed. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the maintenance for this APAR. * **************************************************************** - PK06851 for IMS DEDB Fast Recovery Since CASTOUT process is not performed at the time of IMS system checkpoint, the Nonrecoverable local VSO Areas are not recovered. DFR changes the AREA status to recovery needed and outputs 'RCVNEED (NONRCV)' on DEDB AREA Status List. If DMACF0NE in DMACFLG0 was set during IMS Emergency Restart or XRF Takeover, DFR changes the AREA status to recovery needed and outputs 'RCVNEED (NONRCV)' on DEDB AREA Status List.
