PK04737: PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT OF HPFP REORGANIZATION FOR UNLOAD PROCESS WHICH NEEDS MULTIPLE OUTPUT TASKS

APAR status

  • Closed as unreproducible in next release.

Error description

  • Even though UNLOAD process writes multiple output files
under multiple sub-tasks, these sub-task processes are
serialized. It is improved to run these multiple sub-tasks
    concurrently.

    * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the maintenance for this APAR. *
    ****************************************************************
When HPFP UNLOAD process with SORT=YES writes multiple output
files under multiple sub-tasks, these sub-task processes are
serialized. Because FTT is used for AWE which tells the input
end of sorting, therefore when there are two or more sorting
tasks, it need to wait for completing the input of the sorting
task to reuse the FTT for another sorting tasks. Even when
there are two or more sort-tasks, the processes are serialized.

Problem conclusion

Temporary fix

Comments

  • The module HFPFTRM0 has been modified so that SR buffer may be
used for AWE which tells the input end of sorting.
As one SR buffer is obtained temporarily for each sorting task,
it became unnecessary to wait for the input end of the sorting
task. Then HPFP UNLOAD with SORT=YES can run multiple sub-tasks
    concurrently.
