Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: WebSphere Application Server version 6 * * HTTP users with gzip compressed messages. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: If gzip compression is enabled, then * * the steps to compress or decompress the * * HTTP body data may corrupt that data. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** An error in the pooling of Inflator and Deflator objects meant that there was a possibility of multiple threads using the same object at once. That would cause different input or output streams to get intermixed and the compress/decompress attempts to fail.
Problem conclusion
Pooling has been fixed so that the multithreaded corruption is no longer possible. This fix is targeted for fixpack 6.0.1.2. Please refer to the recommended updates page for delivery information: http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=180&uid=swg27004980 Application Server for z/OS customers should follow their normal PTF ordering process.
