PK02849: ABEND0C4 IQCY0000 AT X'386' WHEN NOT UTILIZING THE NEW QCF STARTUP SCRIPT AFTER APAR PK00220

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• ABENDS0C4 IQCY0000 at x'386' when not utilizing the new QCF
  startup script after APAR PK00220.  APAR PK00220 added
  a new parameter OVFLHLQ.  As part of this APAR a new startup
  script needs to be used to pass parm information.  If the old
  script is used without OVFLHLQ parm information the abend will
  occur.  We plan to put in a check to alleviate the abend,
  issue a warning message and utilize the default value.

Problem summary

• ****************************************************************
  * USERS AFFECTED: All users of QCF-panels.                     *
  *                 APARs PQ97787, PK00220 changed               *
  *                 QCF starting script for TSO users.           *
  *                 The script IQC is updated in installation    *
  *                 library. Users have to use the new script    *
  *                 to invoke QCF panels. A new parameter is     *
  *                 added- OVFLHLQ. It is used to build the      *
  *                 data set names with overflow protection      *
  *                 members.                                     *
  *                 When the old starting script is used-        *
  *                 a zero OVFLHLQ parameter is passed to        *
  *                 next scripts and programs .                  *
  *                 Startup program IQCY0000 abends with 0C4.    *
  ****************************************************************
  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: 0C4 in IQCY0000 if APARs PQ97787 and    *
  *                      PK00220 are installed, but the          *
  *                      starting IQC script is not customized   *
  *                      to pass the new parameter - OFVLHLQ.    *
  *                                                              *
  *                      The new parameter allows data sets with *
  *                      overflow protection members to have     *
  *                      different hlq, than the installation    *
  *                      QCF libraries.                          *
  *                      PQ97787 added the new parameter.        *
  *                      PK00220 made the new parameter to be    *
  *                      up to 25 bytes. MVS id , IMS id and     *
  *                      'COMMIT' / ' UNCOMMIT' are concataneted *
  *                      to OVFLHLQ to build the data sets names *
  *                      with overflow protection control card   *
  *                      members.                                *
  *                      IQC starting script sample is part of   *
  *                      both APARs. Old starting scripts        *
  *                      have to be customized according to the  *
  *                      sample- to pass the new parameter.      *

  * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
  ****************************************************************
  IQCY0000 and IQCC00 are changed to set default value 'IQC' for
  starting parameter OVFLHLQ, if this parameter is not passed by
  the starting IQC script.
  

Problem conclusion

• New starting script sample has to be used to start QCF panels.
  If old starting script is used, the OVFLHLQ parameter is set to
  default value 'IQC'.
