Error description

  • With the prompt option for CREATE SQL set to YES (Main Menu
option P ('Change DB2 Admin parameters' => PR ('Prompt
Options') => Definition SQL (CREATE, DROP, ALTER, RENAME,.) =
YES), if a user enters line command CREV ('create view') on a
table on panel ADB21T, they then get prompted to create the
view on panel ADB2PSTM. The view is created successfully.
However, the text of the view in table SYSIBM.SYSVIEWS, column
STATEMENT, contains extra bytes x'0D15' between 'CREATE VIEW
    >viewname< AS' and 'SELECT' .

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
With 'Definition SQL (CREATE, DROP, ALTER, RENAME,.)' set to
'YES' under Prompt Options (panel ADB2PRMT), if a user
user generates and executes view DDL via line command CREV
on panel ADB21T or ADB21VV, special characters x'0D15' may
appear in the STATEMENT column of SYSIBM.SYSVIEWS. This is
because Admin Tool uses special characters to format
the view on the prompt panel ADB2PSTM. The special
characters (X'0D15') are part of the SQL statement that is
passed to Db2, and Db2 stores the entire SQL statement,
including the valid but unwanted special characters, in
    SYSVIEWS.

Problem conclusion

  • The problem has been fixed by replacing the special
characters with blanks just before passing the statement
    to Db2.
