Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All CICSPlex SM users. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: It is sometimes difficult to work out * * why a workload is frozen, due to lack * * of diagnostic information. This * * information needs to be recorded. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the fix and recycle the CMASes. * * These can be done separately, when * * convenient. * * * * Note; The changes in the fix will not become * * active in a CMAS until the workload is * * terminated locally in the CMAS, and then * * reinstalled. * * That is, all MASes connected to the CMAS and * * participating in the workload are stopped * * at the same time. * **************************************************************** Some way to determine which MASes are causing a workload to be frozen is required. Code has been added to CPSM to record which MASes are no longer in contact with the CMAS managing the workload. A list of frozen MASes is held as "Workload Freeze Elements" chained off the "Workload Freeze List" and reported by the EYU9Dnnn IPCS routine. Messages EYUWM0412 & EYUWM0413 have been added to report when and why the workload has been frozen and unfrozen.
Problem conclusion
CMAS code has been updated to store a list of MASes not returning workload information for a frozen workload. Messages EYUWM0412 & EYUWM0413 have been added to report when and why the workload has been frozen and unfrozen. IBM Documentation for CICS TS for z/OS 5.3, 5.4, 5.5, and 5.6 will be updated with the following new messages: EYUWM0412I applid Workload (workload) from context (plexname) has been Frozen due to loss of contact with masname. Explanation: Either a CMAS or MAS has terminated while the named workload was active on either type of CICS region, or a CMAS that is being joined to an existing workload has recognised that the workload is currently in a frozen state, where: workload is the name of the affected Workload plexname is the name of the CICSplex that the workload is associated with. EYUWM0413I applid Workload (workload) from context (plexname) has been reactivated from Frozen. Explanation: A Workload that was previously in a Frozen state has been fully reactivated on the local CMAS, following the restart, reactivation of, or reconnection to another CMAS or MAS in the same workload. Normal Workload processing will now continue, where: workload is the name of the affected Workload plexname is the name of the CICSplex that the workload is associated with.
