PI99094: CICS: DFHSJ0002 SEVERE ERROR 0B21 OCCURS IN DFHSJJS WHEN DISABLING A JVM SERVER WHILE ITS STILL INITIALIZING

Error description

• Within the CICS region, the JVM server is being disabled
  and results in the following error occurring:
  .
    DFHSJ0002 applid A severe error (code X'0B21') has occurred
    in module DFHSJJS.
  .
  This 0B21 error is associated with exception trace entry:
  .
    SJ 0B21 SJJS  *EXC* CJSR_STILL_ACTIVE
      SET_JVMSERVER,DISABLED,JVMSERVR,PHASEOUT
  .
  which is issued if the CJSR transaction which is ran to
  finish enabling a JVM server, is still active when the check at
  the beginning of the JVM disabling process is executed.  CJSR is
  typically a short-lived transaction.

  In this scenario, the JVM server is being PHASED OUT while it is
  still initializing and ENABLING.  So CJSR is validly still
  active and the error should not be issued.

  *                      immediately after enabling it.          *

  A Liberty JVMSERVER is phased out or CICS is quiesced
  immediately after the Liberty JVMSERVER was installed or
  enabled.  Depending on the timing of events, one or more of the
  following may occur:
  
   - A DFHSJ0002 severe error with codes x'0B21' or x'0B22'.
   - A CEMT task hanging after issuing an INQUIRE JVMSERVER.
   - A BPXP018I message due to the Shutdown Responder or
     ipt_control_loop threads being undubbed when the JVM is
     destroyed because these threads did not terminate themselves.

Problem conclusion

• CICS has been updated to prevent the errors listed above when a
  Liberty JVMSERVER is disabled immediately after being enabled.
  
  Note, Java exceptions may still occur and will be logged in the
  JVMSERVER's jvmtrace and stderr file.
  
  The errors listed above may still occur if a more forceful
  disable of the JVMSERVER or CICS shutdown is requested.
