Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All IMS High Performance Image Copy for z/OS * * Version 4 Release 2 users ( FMID=H1J0420 ) * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: This APAR fixes the following two * * problems of IMS HP Image Copy Version 4 * * Release 2: * * 1. Image Copy function terminates with * * ABEND S0C4-11 ( ABEND0C4 RSN11 ) * * when the database does not have the * * data set group (DSG) and its DBD is * * generated in the old IMS environment * * 2. Image Copy function does not process * * the virtual image copy for the * * necessary index databases when the * * VIC=N is applied to some databases * * which are processed in the same JOB * * step. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the maintenance for this APAR. * **************************************************************** This APAR fixes the following 2 problems of IMS HP Image Copy Version 4 Release 2: 1. Image Copy function terminates with ABEND S0C4-11 ( ABEND0C4 RSN11 ) when the database does not havethe data set group (DSG) and its DBD is generated in the old IMS environment. IMS HP Image Copy searches the segment definition in the DBD for finding related index database definitions. When it is processed, IMS HP Image Copy refers the field for the number of segments in each data set of the DSG and uses it as a loop counter for segment search process. In some non-DSG DBD which is generated in the old IMS version, the number in the field is incorrect and IMS HP Image Copy tries to use disable address and terminates with ABEND S0C4. IMS HP Image Copy should use value in the field for the number of segments in the database when it is non-DSG database. And also it should bypass the index search process if IDXSRCH=N is applied the full function databases. 2. Image Copy function does not process the virtual image copy for the necessary index databases when the VIC=N is applied to some databases which are processed int the same JOB step. IMS HP Image Copy mishandles the VIC applied flag in the control block if VIC=Y is not applied to some databases in the same JOB step.
Problem conclusion
IMS HP Image Copy applied following changes: - Refer the field for number of segments in the database when it is non-DSG database. - Bypass the index search process if IDXSRCH=N is applied the full function databases. - Correct the handling for VIC applied flag process if VIC=Y is not applied to some databases in the same JOB step.
