Error description

  • The process of "move to lost+found" is invoked when the
destruction of a directory version "orphans" a file
because it was the only directory version that gave a path to
    that file.

The process involves appending 33 extra characters of unique
    identifier string to the name.
When the name is already long (over 228 characters) that takes
it over the maximum length of a leaf name, 260 characters.
When this happens during the MultiSite syncreplica replay of the
operation, syncreplica fails and the synchronization of the VOB
    family gets blocked.

    multitool: Warning: Object
    "demonstration_of_a_very_long_file_name_that_can_cause_a_problem
    _for_multisite_when_moved_to_lost+found_by_uncheckout.txt.keep.k
    eep.keep.keep.keep.keep.keep.keep.keep.keep.keep.keep.keep.keep.
    keep.keep.keep.keep.keep.keep.keep.keep.keep" no longer
    referenced.
multitool: Warning: Moving object to vob lost+found directory as
    "demonstration_of_a_very_long_file_name_that_can_cause_a_problem

multitool: Error: Database identifier (dbid) not found in
    database: "/sources".
multitool: Error: Unable to replay oplog entry 4223196:
    reference to non-existent ClearCase object.

    oplog_id= 3414961
    ...

Local fix

  • At the importing replica, create a new directory version
(generally by checking out on a locally mastered branch of the
    same element)
Merge to this new directory version
from the directory version that the failing oplog entry is
    trying to destroy.

Restart the syncreplica import. This time the destruction of the
version will not result in "move to lost+found".
After the packet is imported, the local directory checkout can
    be cancelled.
