Error description

  • In traditional WAS the following useful information about
    the
    region size is output at startup:
    BBOO0302I REGION REQUESTED = 0K 080
    ACTUAL BELOW/ABOVE LINE LIMIT = 8M / 999M
    ABOVE BAR FREE/ALLOC ADDR = 0 / 0
    as well as the following information about their WAS server
    ID's MEMLIMIT value and where the value is set:
    BBOO0331I MEMLIMIT=00000ffffffff000.  MEMLIMIT CONFIGURATION
    SOURCE=JCL
    Currently, Liberty does not produce similar messages, but it
    would be useful since there are many ways to set the
    MEMLIMIT
    and both region and MEMLIMIT are often overlooked when
    setting
    up a new server ID and environment.

Local fix

  • Manually check the region and memlimit restrictions on your WAS
    server ID

    * information are not shown in the server *

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    Local Data Area (LDA) information such as the region size that
    is allocated to the address space along with the actual storage
    limits for addresses that are below the line (24-bit addresses)
    and addresses that are above the line (31-bit addresses) are not
    shown in the server logs. Furthermore, MEMLIMIT information for
    the address space and the source from where the MEMLIMIT
    configuration was obtained are also not shown in the server
    logs.

    The mentioned information is helpful when trying to find the
    cause of out-of-storage conditions.

Problem conclusion

  • Two new messages were added. The information is gathered during
    server startup and shown in the server logs.
    CWWKB0125I: This server requested a REGION size of xKB. The
    below-the-line storage limit is xMB and the above-the-line
    storage limit is xxxxMB.
    CWWKB0126I: MEMLIMIT=xxxxxxxx. MEMLIMIT CONFIGURATION
    SOURCE=xxxx.
