Error description
The load step of a migrate of a multi-table tablespace using HPU UNLOAD may fail for one of two reasons: 1. The load control cards for the second and any possible subsequent tables are not generated with RESUME YES. This may result in RC=8 and the following error when the load is attempted: DSNURWI - TABLESPACE IS NOT EMPTY 2. Even if RESUME YES is added to the LOAD statement, however, the multiple unload files may have different record lengths, and the load may fail with an S04E abend: IEF450I TS5776D DSNUPROC LOAD2 - ABEND=S04E U0000 REASON=00E40347 705 TIME=18.06.53 DSNU017I 124 18:06:52.82 DSNUGBAC - UTILITY DATA BASE SERVICES MEMORY EXECUTION ABENDED, REASON=X'00E40347' CAUSE=X'00E40323' The following error message will also appear: INPUT FIELD 'fieldname' NOT ENTIRELY WITHIN INPUT RECORD
Local fix
Run the 2 loads as separate steps - with the second being a Load Resume.
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: Users of the DB2 Administration Tool for * * z/OS who use HPU UNLOAD. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: This APAR addresses two related * * issues: * * * * 1. When migrating a multi-table * * tablespace, and using 'Unload * * method=H' (HPU) on panel * * ADB28M 'Migrate Parameters', * * the generated Target job * * ADBMGT1 may fail with rc=8 and * * the following error message: * * * * DSNU330I !<ssid> 124 14:31:47.57 * * DSNURWI - TABLESPACE IS NOT EMPTY * * * * 2. The above error indicates that the * * the LOAD cards/statements generated * * in the .CNC files are missing the * * RESUME YES option. Even if RESUME * * YES is added, however, the job may * * then fail with an S04E abend and error * * message INPUT FIELD 'FIELDNAME' * * NOT ENTIRELY WITHIN INPUT * * RECORD. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** When using 'Unload method=H' (HPU) on panel ADB28M 'Migrate Parameters',submit of the generated Target job ADBMGT1 may fail with rc=8 and the following error message: DSNU330I !<ssid> 124 14:31:47.57 DSNURWI - TABLESPACE IS NOT EMPTY This error indicates indicating that the LOAD cards/statements generated in the .CNC files are missing the RESUME YES option. Although this can be circumvented by enabling the "Use customization utility options" and using the Load customized utility option to set RESUME YES, the same MIG Target job ADBMGT1 may then fail with the following error messages: IEF450I TS5776D DSNUPROC LOAD2 - ABEND=S04E U0000 REASON=00E40347 705 TIME=18.06.53 DSNU017I 124 18:06:52.82 DSNUGBAC - UTILITY DATA BASE SERVICES MEMORY EXECUTION ABENDED, REASON=X'00E40347' CAUSE=X'00E40323' This error is due to the following: The two files hlq.ULD.T1 and hlq.ULD.T2 in ADBMGT1 have different record lengths (the first is shorter than the second). The process thinks that one of the columns is outside the input record length, hence the S04E error, and message "INPUT FIELD 'FIELDNAME' NOT ENTIRELY WITHININPUT RECORD" result. To resolve this, the MIG Target job ADBMGT1 needs to run the two loads as separate steps instead of one load step.
Problem conclusion
Problem has been resolved. The MIG function will do the following when HPU is used for UNLOAD: 1. Make RESUME YES the default when DB2 generates the LOAD statements. 2. Target job ADBMGT1 will generate a separate load step (instead of one) for each load statement.
