APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • The CICS SIT ( System Initialization Table ) has non-zero
values in it to enable the CICS WLMHEALTH feature. You find
that over a CICS WARM start, CICS may restore incorrect
information about the previous state of WLMHEALTH from the
DFHGCD ( Global Catalog ) dataset leaving WLMHEALTH set to OFF.
This status may be incorrectly set if an
     EXEC CICS SET WLMHEALTH
command was issued during the previous run of CICS while the
WLMHEALTH feature was ramping up from 0 to 100%.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: All CICS users. *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: EXEC CICS SET WLMHEALTH fails *
    * after CICS warm restart. *
    ****************************************************************
    CICS is started with WLMHEALTH=(0,nn).
The zero in the interval option indicates that
WLMHEALTH should be started in a dormant state.
An application program, or the CECI transaction, or CEMT,
issues EXEC CICS SET WLMHEALTH, which successfully changes
    the interval and activates WLMHEALTH.
CICS writes the new WLMHEALTH state to the Global Catalog,
but incorrectly writes a state of "OFF".
CICS is then auto restarted with a WARM start.
CICS retrieves the incorrect WLMHEALTH state from the catalog
    and sets WLMHEALTH to OFF.
An application program, or the CECI transaction, or CEMT,
issues EXEC CICS SET WLMHEALTH, which receives EIBRESP=INVREQ,
EIBRESP2=4, because WLMHEALTH has been turned off by the
incorrect catalog and restore of the state over the warm
    restart,

Problem conclusion

  • CICS MN domain has been changed to catalog and restore
the correct WLMHEALTH state over a CICS warm restart. This PTF
fix will not take effect until CICS is started with a COLD or
    INITIAL start.
