APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • There is a bug in the Mail code when masking password in a
    properties.  It will only fail when customer enabled the Mail
    trace (com.ibm.ws.mail.*) and it should work without
    turning on Tr tracing.
    

Local fix

  • turn off WAS mail trace

    The mail session login failed when user enabled the mail
    trace because the password value was masked (*****).
    

Problem conclusion

  • It is a bug in the Mail tracing code and it has changed the
    original password value to be masked.
    
    The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
    fix pack 8.5.5.14 and 9.0.0.9.  Please refer to the
