PI96174: VARCHAR HEX VALUE IS INCORRECTLY UPDATED AFTER VARCHAR VALUE UPDATED

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Previously, when a VARCHAR string included non-displayable
  characters in the x'00-x'3F range along with regular characters,
  and the regular characters were being updated in the EXPAND
  panel, the HEX values of the non-displayable characters were
  updated to x'4B.
  Once this fix is applied, the HEX values of non-displayable
  characters will not be changed. When a user views or edits a
  table that contains non-displayable characters, an informational
  message is displayed and the non-displayable characters are
  replaced with spaces.
