Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: WebSphere Application Server users of OSGi * * applications * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Administration of OSGi applications * * that utilize Composite Bundles * * containing large archives is * * excessively slow. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** The administration code for OSGi applications was highly inefficent when processing composite bundles that contain large archive files.
Problem conclusion
A new JVM system property was added to provide an alternative algorithm for processing OSGi composite bundles (CBAs) during administrative tasks that is more performant when the CBAs contain large archives. The system property name is com.ibm.ws.eba.bla.proxies.cbaContentsOption To enable the new algorithm the value of the system property should be set to 1. The default value is 0 (unchanged behaviour). The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix packs 8.5.5.15 and 9.0.0.9.
