Error description
IBM WebSphere Application Server stopServer/stopNode/stopManager scripts hang in Qshell when LOGOUTPUT is set to *PND in QWASJOBD or when the IBM i system value QLOGOUTPUT is set to *PND.
Local fix
Execute the following command to manually change the QWASJOBD LOGOUTPUT parameter to *JOBEND. CHGJOBD JOBD({was_product_library}/QWASJOBD) LOGOUTPUT(*JOBEND) i.e. CHGJOBD JOBD(QWAS85/QWASJOBD) LOGOUTPUT(*JOBEND)
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server V8.5 and V9.0. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: On IBM i, the stopServer, stopNode * * and stopManager commands may hang * * when the QLOGOUTPUT system value is * * set to *PND. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: Apply Fix pack 8.5.5.14 or 9.0.0.9 * **************************************************************** On IBM i, if the QLOGOUTPUT system value is set to *PND, the stopServer, stopNode and stopManager commands will hang because the DSPJOBLOG command will be in a wait state forever until the server's Job Log can be obtained.
Problem conclusion
The WebSphere Application Server is fixed to set LOGOUTPUT to *JOBEND in the QWAS85/QWASJOBD and QWAS9/QWASJOBD job descriptions. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix packs 8.5.5.14 and 9.0.0.9.
