PI95401: DSNKTRAV 501C ABEND AND MISSING INDEX ENTRIES WITH INDEX FAST TRAVERSE BLOCK (FTB) BEING USED AND INCLUDE COLUMN ON INDEX

Error description

• DSNKTRAV 501C abend and missing index entries with Index Fast
  Traverse Block (FTB) being used and INCLUDE column on index.
  ERQUAL501C
   Conditions are:
  1)  The failing index must be using a Fast Traverse Block (FTB)
    for index access
  
       An index is considered ineligible for FTB acceleration if
          ****(taken from APAR PI90879)******
        - it is non-unique
        - index has versioning
        - the key length is greater than 64 bytes
        - the key contains timestamps with timezone
        - it is a catalog index
  2)  The index must be created as PADDED
  3)  The index must contain 1 or 2 INCLUDE columns
        -  Where the total length of the INCLUDE columns is less
           than or equal to 2 bytes
  4)  There also needs to be some very data specific conditions
    within the index, caused by insertion/deletion patterns that
    need to be present.

  The abend and missing index entries were the result of
  incorrect sequencing of keys within the index caused
  by evaluating INCLUDE column data when it shouldn't have.
  

Problem conclusion

• Code has been modified within the Index Manager component
  to correctly account for the exisitance of INCLUDE columns
  in an index when using the Fast Traverse Block optimization.
