• ABENDU3325 occurs when running HD Pointer Checker HASH Check
  function for PHIDAM database whose root segments are compressed
  with Hardware Data Compression.

  * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the maintenance for this APAR.         *

  ABENDU3325 with Reg14=D3C4E703 (reason code: input length is
  negative) occurs in Hardware Data Compression when the following
  conditions are met:
  - PHIDAM root segments are compressed with Hardware Data
    Compression.
  - PHIDAM root segment is key compressed or defined as variable
    length.
  - HASH Checking function (HASH=YES) is run for the PHIDAM
    database in HDPC stand-alone jobs or IMS HP Image Copy jobs.
  - COMPFACT=YES is specified when the root segment is data
    compressed.
  
  Hardware Data Compression should not be called for PHIDAM root
  segment records with a key of all X'FF's which IMS automatically
  inserts because the root segment records contain negative values
  as segment length. But, HPPC wrongly calls Hardware Data
  Compression for the PHIDAM root segment records when running the
  HASH Check function.
  

Problem conclusion

• HPPC HASH Check function has been modifiled not to call segment
  edit/compression exit routines including Hardware Data
  Compression for PHIDAM root segment records with a key of all
  X'FF's.
