• After a column with datatype GRAPHIC is added to a uncode table,
  and HPU is used to unload the data from the table, the
  subsequent load may fail with following messages:

Problem summary

  * USERS AFFECTED: Users of the DB2 Administration Tool for     *
  *                 z/OS or DB2 Object Comparison Tool for z/OS. *

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Batch Restart Program (ADBTEP2) ends    *
  *                      with an error while loading data into a *
  *                      table. The error occurs when the data   *
  *                      was unloaded from a table with UNICODE  *
  *                      encoding scheme using High Performance  *
  *                      Unload (HPU) after the insertion of     *
  *                      a GRAPHIC column.                       *

  * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *

  When a table is dropped and recreated as a result of an
  insertion of a column into a table, processing of the
  generated WSL includes a special operation to adjust
  unload/load processing to take into account the newly-added
  field. As part of this operation, ADBTEP2 should disable
  HPU unloading under certain conditions, including UNICODE
  encoding unload. In this case ADBTEP2 fails to disable the
  HPU unload of the UNICODE data, and the error results.

Problem conclusion

• The problem has been resolved. When a table has UNICODE
  encoding scheme, use of HPU is disabled.
