Error description

• Problem comes up while attempting to ALTER a Column to a new
length. This new length would exceed the page size limit There
comes up an 'ERROR.FILE', showing some debug information.

After the ERROR.FILE is displayed, F3 returns to the ALT panel
and on the bottom of the panel is displayed:

----------------------------------------------------------
Analysis ended with return code = 8. Use TSO ISRDDN to
check the file contents. The files remain allocated and
should be freed manually.
----------------------------------------------------------

The DDname REPORT showed:

Compare table source(IS6X.TBISHJ) and target(IS6X.TBISHJ)
Column C2
(A)Type changed from VARCHAR(4000) to VARCHAR(4050)
ADB7168E The source table space can not contain the table record
length. Specify a larger buffer pool to ensure that the
page size is suitable for the table record length and
contain the record.
Tables have identical column lists
Table will be altered

When a table column is changed such that the record length
exceeds the pagesize for the tablespace, error ADB7168E is
issued late in the ALT process. The error should be caught
earlier in the process, with resulting display of panel
