APAR status

Error description

  • After installing CICSECI.rar on WebSphere z/OS, users may
    experience a NullPointerException when attempting to check the
    connection factory status in the admin console.  The folllowing
    error and stack will be presented in the logs:
    
    ExtendedMessage: BBOO0220E: SRVE0068E: An exception was thrown
    by one of the service methods of the servlet action in
    application isclite~. Exception created :
    java.lang.NullPointerException
      at com.ibm.ws.console.core.mbean.ResourceMBeanHelper.
    getJCALifeCycleStatus(ResourceMBeanHelper.java:632)
      at com.ibm.ws.console.resources.database.jca.lifecycle.
    JCALifeCycleSelectController.populateDetailForms
    (JCALifeCycleSelectController.java:177)
      at com.ibm.ws.console.resources.database.jca.lifecycle.
    JCALifeCycleSelectController.setupCollectionForm

    The problem is caused by an incorrect mbean descriptor used and
    will only occur on WebSphere for z/OS.

    The problem is caused by an incorrect mbean descriptor used and
    will only occur on WebSphere for z/OS.
    

Problem conclusion

  • To allow data to be transferred throughout the server
    properly, the connection factory MBean descriptor was updated
    to indicate the proper return type of the getStatus()
    operation.
    
    The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
    fix pack 8.5.5.14.  Please refer to the Recommended Updates
    page
