PI93899: DB2 ADMIN TOOL - CM BATCH NAME PARAMETER MISSING AN APOSTROPHE ENDS RC8, WITH NO ERROR MESSAGE.

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• When SRCIN DD supplied parameter is missing an apostrophe,
  Compare ends with RC8 and no message. APAR PI84319 was for a
  similar issue, but in that case ONCODE 1018/ONCODE1018 was
  returned. The fix for PI84319 was to display a new message,
  ADB9971E. Now with PI84319 applied, no ONCODE 1018 but also
  no message ADB9971E.

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Input DD statement has a typo           *
  *                      and causes an ONCODE                    *
  *                      error. There is no message              *
  *                      displayed to inform the customer        *
  *                      an error has occurred.                  *

  * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *

  When DD is specified for input in the CM batch job, a typo
  in the input parms causes an ONCODE with no mention
  of the error. The error should be captured by the code
  with a message saying input parameters are incorrect.
  The quick scope parameter syntax should be checked
  before import starts and any errors should be caught
  at that time, like missing quotes, commas, equal signs,
  plus misplaced characters like semicolons before the end
  of the parameter list.
  

Problem conclusion

• Problem has been resolved. Parameter checking is
  added that checks that parm names, equal sign, quotes,
  commas and semicolons are all in the correct spots in
  the input quick scope file. If not, an error message
  will be issued.
  
  The new messages are:

  The quick scope parameter, parameter_name, is not
  present in the input.

  character "error_character" is not in the right spot for
