PI93743: ADMIN TOOL CM OR OBJECT COMPARE MERGE MESSAGES NOT WRITTEN TO ADBMSGS DD REPORT DD OUTPUT

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• During MERGE processing, some messages are written to SYSPRINT
  DD output, but not to ADBMSGS DD and REPORT DD output.
  One of the examples is below:
  Added foreign key key_name for table
  table_name already exists.
  This APAR converts these error messages into
  messages ADB8062E to ADB8067E. The converted messages will be
  displayed in ADBMSGS DD and REPORT DD output.

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Some of the hard-coded error messages   *
  *                      that MERGE processing issues appear     *
  *                      only in SYSPRINT DD output, but should  *
  *                      appear in ADBMSGS DD and REPORT DD      *

  * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *

  ADBMSGS DD and REPORT DD output contain error messages
  generated by DB2 Administration Tool for z/OS and DB2
  Object Comparison Tool for z/OS. However, some
  hard-coded messages are not written into ADBMSGS DD
  and REPORT DD during MERGE processing.
  
  One of the examples is below:
  
  Added foreign key key_name for table
  table_name already exists.
  

Problem conclusion

• This APAR converts hard-coded error messages into messages
  ADB8062E to ADB8067E as shown below.  The converted messages
  are displayed in ADBMSGS DD and REPORT DD output.
  
  ADB8062E
  No object row matches the delta row. The row type is row_type.
  Reason code is reason_code.
  Explanation:
   The row type specified in a delta change was not found.
   Reason code 1: Error while processing implicit non-LOB,
   non-XML table space
   Reason code 2: Error while processing ALTER INDEX attributes.
   Reason code 3: Error while processing implicit index
   attributes.
  User Action: Correct the DDL statement, if necessary, and try
   again.
  System Action: Processing stops.
  
  ADB8063E
  The rearranged column list does not match table tb_name.
  The col_name column is not in the table.
  Explanation: The list of columns to be rearranged does not
   match the table.
  User Action: Correct the DDL statement, if necessary, and try
   again.
  System Action: Processing stops.
  
  ADB8064E
  The col_name column to be added to the ix_name index is already
  an index column.
  Explanation: An attempt was made to add a column to an index
   which already exists
  User Action: Correct the DDL statement, if necessary, and try
   again.
  System Action: Processing stops.
  
  ADB8065E
  The row type is invalid for Alter Index operation_name.
  Explanation: An invalid operation was detected while processing
   Alter Index statement.
  User Action: Correct the DDL statement, if necessary, and try
   again.
  System Action: Processing stops.
  
  ADB8066E
  The foreign key fk_name to be added to table tb_name already
  exists.
  Explanation: An attempt was made to add a foreign key which
   already exists.
  User Action: Correct the DDL statement, if necessary, and try
   again.
  System Action: Processing stops.
  ADB8067E
  Alter inconsistency in the row type, length, or prefix.
  Explanation: An internal error occurred while altering a
   version file row.
  User Action: This is an internal error. Contact IBM Software
   Suport.  Details about the object that caused the error are
   provided in message ADB8057I.
  System Action: Processing stops.
