Error description
Batch job ADBTEP2 may end with one of the following errors when CURRENT APPLICATION COMPATIBILITY is at a lower level than the level which can be referenced by the SQLERRP field of SQLCA (for example, when packages ADBTEP2 and ADBTEPR are bound with APPLCOMPAT(V10R1) against DB2 V11 NFM): DSNT408I SQLCODE = -4743, ERROR: ATTEMPT TO USE A FUNCTION WHEN THE APPLICATION COMPATIBILITY SETTING IS SET FOR A PREVIOUS LEVEL DSNT418I SQLSTATE = 56038 SQLSTATE RETURN CODE DSNT415I SQLERRP = DSNHSM2V SQL PROCEDURE DETECTING ERROR DSNT416I SQLERRD = 31 0 0 -1 8 2721 SQL DIAGNOSTIC INFORMATION DSNT416I SQLERRD = X'0000001F' X'00000000' X'00000000' X'FFFFFFFF' X'00000008' X'00000AA1' SQL DIAGNOSTIC INFORMATION OR: DSNT408I SQLCODE = -525, ERROR: THE SQL STATEMENT CANNOT BE EXECUTED BECAUSE IT WAS IN ERROR AT BIND TIME FOR SECTION = 86 PACKAGE = >LOCATION_NAME<.- ADBL.ADBTEPR CONSISTENCY TOKEN = X'1A774F4A1A411557' DSNT418I SQLSTATE = 51015 SQLSTATE RETURN CODE DSNT415I SQLERRP = DSNXERT SQL PROCEDURE DETECTING ERROR DSNT416I SQLERRD = -230 0 0 -1 0 0 SQL DIAGNOSTIC INFORMATION DSNT416I SQLERRD = X'FFFFFF1A' X'00000000' X'00000000 ' X'FFFFFFFF' X'00000000' X'00000000' SQL DIAGNOSTIC INFORMATION The following message may also accompany SQLCODE -4743: IBM0032S ONCODE=612 The CONVERSION condition was raised because a conversion error occurred when converting a character string to an arithmetic value. Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: Users of the DB2 Administration Tool for * * z/OS or DB2 Object Comparison Tool for z/OS. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Executing Batch Restart Program * * (ADBTEP2) ends with an error * * because of SQLCODE -4743/ * * SQLCODEN4743 or SQLCODE -525/ * * SQLCODEN525. The error occurs * * when CURRENT APPLICATION * * COMPATIBILITY is at a lower level * * than the level which can be referenced * * by the SQLERRP field of SQLCA. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** Batch Restart Program(ADBTEP2) internally executes application level sensitive SQL statements in order to retain the environmental condition for restarting. The execution of the program ends with an error due to SQL error -4743 or -525, when a CURRENT APPLICATION COMPATIBILITY is lower than the level which can be referenced by SQLERRP field of SQLCA. Such conditions include when packages ADBTEP2 and ADBTEPR are bound with APPLCOMPAT(V10R1) against DB2 V11 NFM. Depending on the CURRENT APPLICATION COMPATIBILITY, and on executing conditions, such as restart point state, the following errors may be observed: ADB5146E Unexpected SQLCODE -525 in :SYSIBMADM.GET_ARCHIVE =N DSNT408I SQLCODE = -525, ERROR: THE SQL STATEMENT CANNOT BE EXECUTED BECAUSE IT WAS IN ERROR AT BIND TIME FOR SECTION = 52 PACKAGE = NCD0.ADBL.ADBTEP2 CONSISTENCY TOKEN = X'1A7A74711F31D7AB' Or: DSNT408I SQLCODE = -4743, ERROR: ATTEMPT TO USE A FUNCTION WHEN THE APPLICATION COMPATIBILITY SETTING IS SET FOR A PREVIOUS LEVEL The following message may also accompany SQLCODE -4743 : IBM0032S ONCODE=612 The CONVERSION condition was raised because a conversion error occurred when converting a character string to an arithmetic value. From entry point ADBTEP2 at statement 5513 at compile unit offset >offset< at entry offset >offset< at address >address<.
Problem conclusion
The problem has been resolved. Upon encountering the condition, a warning message ADB5414W will be displayed: ADB5414W Down-level APPLICATION COMPATIBILITY, V10R1, is detected. Environmental variables that depend on the application level will not be retained. Explanation: The restart point cannot preserve application level sensitive environmental variables. User Response: Rebind ADBTEP2 and ADBTEPR package with correct APPLCOMPAT bind option if needed. System Action: Processing continues.
