APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • If a z/OS STOP command is issued to the Active instance in a
FailOver configuration, the Active and all the Hot-Standby
instances should terminate. Instead, one of the Hot-Standby
instances is being elevated to the Active role, and the other
Hot-Standby instances remain in their current roles.

Local fix

  • Use the z/OS console MODIFY ...,SHUTDOWN,IMMED command instead.

IIDR CDC for z/OS, when operating in a FailOver configuration,
does not react to a z/OS STOP command as decribed in the
    documentation.

Problem conclusion

  • Processing of the z/OS STOP command now resets the HandOver flag
before proceeding to shut down the Active instance.
