PI92612: OPENING RATIONAL SOFTWARE ARCHITECT IN A LANGUAGE BESIDES ENGLISH ONLY TRANSLATES A FEW LABELS AND (SUB)MENU ITEMS

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• If you opt to open IBM Rational Software Architect Designer for
  WebSphere (RSAD4WS) v9.6 in a language other than English, only
  a few (sub)menu items will appear in the that language.  Almost
  all prompts, (sub)menu items, labels, and dialog screens will
  still appear in English.
  
  The following steps reproduce the problem, using Spanish ("es")
  as an example:
  
  1. Install the RSAD4WS's "Package Group Translation" for
  "Spanish"
  
  2. Launch RSAD4WS by typing the following at the command line:
  
  [<BEGIN>]
  [RSAD4WS Installation Directory]\eclipse.exe -nl es
  [</END>]
  
  and then pressing "Enter".  This command will open RSAD4WS in
  Spanish and override any language or regional language settings
  you may have on your machine.
  
  EXPECTED RESULT : Not only the license information on the splash
  screen appears in Spanish, but also ALL prompts, (sub)menu
  items, labels, and dialog screens appear in Spanish.
  
  ACTUAL RESULT : The license information on the splash screen
  appears in Spanish, but only a few of the (sub)menu items and
  labels appear in Spanish.  Almost all prompts, (sub)menu items,
  labels, and dialog
  screens still appear in English.
  
  Opening RSAD4WS in other languages, such as French ("fr") and
  German ("de"), gives the same result: only a small number of
  (sub)menu items and labels are translated.  Everything else
  remains in English.
  
  RSAD4WS versions prior to v9.6, for example v9.5.0.2, were
  translated correctly.
  

Local fix

• There is no workaround.
