Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: IBM WebSphere Application Server * * administrators of OpenID Connect * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: OpenID Connect Relying Party does not * * support the OP UserInfo endpoint * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: Install a fix pack or interim fix that * * contains this APAR. * **************************************************************** The OpenID Connect (OIDC) Relying Party (RP) Trust Association Interceptor (TAI) does not read the user information from the UserInfo endpoint on the OpenID Connect Provider (OP). Information about the UserInfo endpoint can be found here: http://openid.net/specs/openid-connect-core- 1_0.html#UserInfoReq uest If an application needs access to the user information that is available on the UserInfo endpoint, they must have an alternate method for retrieving the information.
Problem conclusion
The OIDC RP is updated to allow an administor to configure a UserInfo endpoint. If a UserInfo endpoint is configured and an access token is available, the RP will acquire and store the user information that is returned from the UserInfo endpoint invocation as described below. The OIDC RP TAI is updated to add the following custom property to support the UserInfo endpoint on the OP: provider_<id>.userinfoEndpointUrl This property is optional and does not have a default value. The provider_<id>.userinfoEndpointUrl property specifies the URL for the UserInfo endpoint on the OP. The login process will not fail if an error occurs while making a call to the UserInfo endpoint. The response received from the UserInfo endpoint is be placed on the WebSphere Subject with the [user_info] key. . If the call to the endpoint is successful, the value for the [user_info] entry on the Subject is the JSON string. Otherwise, the value contains information about the error, such as the response code and error message from the OP or the exception text. . The UserInfo endpoint is invoked each time the OIDC RP receives an access token from the OP. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix packs 8.5.5.14 and 9.0.0.8.
