    Some Web service applications fail to start with the following
    exception:
    CWMDF0002E: Annotation processing failed with the following
    error:
    com.ibm.ws.metadata.annotations.AnnotationException: Annotation
    processing failed for class:

    Caused by: java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException
    

Problem conclusion

  • This problem occurred because the Web services runtime code was
    scanninmg for annotations in files that existed in the
    WEB-INF/lib-provided directory.
    The problem was resolved by updating the code so that it only
    scans files that exist under WEB-INF/lib/.
    
    The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
    fix packs 8.5.5.14 and 9.0.0.8.  Please refer to the
