Error description

  • DEDB Reload gets U3771 due to error:
    FABC3771E - VSAM I/O ERROR - "CHK" AREA:

This issue only occurs when the reloaded ADS is a multi-volume
data set allocated in a mixed DASD enviroment. That is where
both EAV and non-EAV are defined in the same storage class,
    which is specified GS=YES. MSGFABC3771E

    * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the maintenance for this APAR. *
    ****************************************************************
The DEDB Reload utility calculates HIGH ALLOCATE RBA of the
multi-volume ADS by multiplying HIGH ALLOCATE RBA of the first
VOLUME by the number of VOLUMEs.
When the multi-volume ADS is allocated on EAV and
non-EAV, since the HIGH ALLOCATE RBA is different for EAV
from that of non-EAV, the calculated HIGH ALLOCATE RBA is larger
than the actual one, which caused VSAM I/O error.

Problem conclusion

  • DEDB Reload has been modified to calculate HIGH ALLOCATE RBA by
using the actual number of tracks that are allocated on each
    volume.
