  *                 in a given IMS instance.                     *

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Performance problems exist in DBD/PSB   *
  *                      list generation or object profile       *
  *                      expansion when a large number of DBDs   *
  *                      or PSBs exist in a given IMS system.    *
  *                      Note that this performance problem will *
  *                      also be apparent when generating JCL    *
  *                      in the Run IMS Utilities portion of the *
  *                      product, as this requires object        *
  *                      profile expansion.                      *

  *                      The IMS Catalog Access API (DFS3CATQ)   *
  *                      changed with UI50872 (IMS V14) or       *
  *                      UI50883 (IMS V15) in a matter that was  *

  When generating lists of DBDs and PSBs, some unnecessary
  processing is done to access unneeded details from the IMS
  catalog/ACBLIB for all DBDs and PSBs in the list. These details
  are only required when the DBD or PSB needs to be expanded,
  either through selection from the generated list, or through
  expansion of an object profile which references the DBD/PSB.
  
  When expanding an object profile, either through direct object
  profile expansion or through JCL Generation, detailed
  information for all DBDs and PSBs defined to the IMS system
  in question is retrieved, no matter how few DBDs or PSBs
  are referenced by the object profile.
  
  When accessing the IMS Catalog after the application of UI50872
  (IMS V14) or UI50883 (IMS V15), the Catalog OPEN call changes.
  An attempt to use the prior version of the call will cause the
  OPEN call to fail with RC=x'0C' RSN=x'20'.
  

Problem conclusion

• Upon application of this PTF, list generation will no longer
  retrieve details of the PSBs or DBDs in the list. These details
  will only be retrieved during object expansion in Database and
  Application Administration, or during object profile expansion
  in Run IMS Utilities.
  
  IMS Admin Tool will detect which version of the DFS3CATQ OPEN
  call needs to be utilized and issue the correct version of the
  call based on the maintenance level of the IMS instance in
  question.
