APAR status

Error description

  • Executing GEN on a view, with option 'Run SQLID' not blank,
may generate DDL containing an extraneous owner.tablename on a
column name. An attempt to execute that DDL would lead to the
    following error:

SQLCODE = -206, ERROR: owner.tablename.columname IS NOT VALID
IN THE CONTEXT WHERE IT IS USED

Local fix

  • If possible, set 'RUN SQLID' to blank.

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
When executing the DDL or GEN command against a view,
with GEN option 'RUN SQLID' specified, a fully qualified
column name was generated. If the column's table was not
referenced in the FROM clause, then DB2 issued the following
    error message:

SQLCODE = -206, ERROR: owner.table.column IS NOT VALID
IN THE CONTEXT WHERE IT IS USED

With this APAR applied, only the column name is generated.

Problem conclusion

  • Problem has been resolved.
