PI88243: DB2 ADMIN TOOL GENERATES INVALID REORG JCL, JOB ENDS IN ABEND UNABLE TO OPEN DCB FOR DDNAME SYSIN REASON CODE X'00E40070'

Error description

• When generating JCL for a tablespace REORG on panel ADB2US,
  Admin Tool generates a blank '//' line at the end of the SYSREC
  DD:
  
  //DSNUPROC.SYSREC DD DSN=HLQ.MY.DSN,
      // DISP=(MOD,CATLG),
      // UNIT=TAPE
      //
  
  Per standard JCL processing, none of the JCL cards after the
  double slash are read at runtime.  This may result in 3 DD
  statements being omitted:   SYSUT1, SORTOUT, SYSIN.
  The omission of these statements causes the job to abend with
  reason code X'00E40070',  UNABLE TO OPEN DCB FOR DDNAME SYSIN.
  

Local fix

• Manually delete the blank '//' line at the end of the SYSREC DD
  statement.

  When the UTIL line command is issued for a tablespace
  on panel ADB21S, and the O or OC option is selected,
  the JCL for the utility job includes a line that consists of
  only two slash characters. All of the JCL cards after the
  double slash will not be read, as per standard JCL
  processing. This causes the job to abend with reason code
  X'00E40070', UNABLE TO OPEN DCB FOR DDNAME SYSIN.
  

Problem conclusion
