Error description

  • In CICS/TS V5.3 there is an extension to the COPY command for
DFHCSDUP utility. You can now add a resource name to the copy
    command: Copy >> resource(name) << group(groupname1) to
group(groupname2). The example provided in the KnowledgeCenter
    is: COPY SESSIONS(L122) GROUP(CICSC1) TO(CICSC2)

When you use this example, but there is no session with name
L122 efined in group CICSC1, the DFHCSDUP utility ends with RC0

DFH5101 I COPY COMMAND EXECUTED SUCCESSFULLY.
    DFH5107 I COMMANDS EXECUTED SUCCESSFULLY: 1
    DFH5108 I COMMANDS NOT EXECUTED AFTER ERROR(S): 0
DFH5109 I END OF DFHCSDUP UTILITY JOB. HIGHEST RETURN CODE WAS:0

If you use CEDA to execute exactly the same COPY command ( CEDA
    COPY SESSIONS(L122) GROUP(CICSC1) TO(CICSC2)), you will get RC12
(error) and error message on the left lower corner of the
    screen:

    S CICSC1 does not contain L122.
    COPY UNSUCCESSFUL

DFHCSDUP should also return RC=12, saying copy was unsuccessful.

Local fix

  • Use CEDA in CICS (online) or if you need to run in batch mode,
    the programmable interface to CEDA.

    * USERS AFFECTED: All CICS Users. *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Using DFHCSDUP to copy a resource *
    * between groups does not fail when *
    * resource is not in source group. *
    ****************************************************************
When using DFHCSDUP to copy resources between groups as
COPY PROGRAM(PROGA) GROUP(GROUPA) TO(GROUPB) and PROGA is not
found in GROUPA the copy completes normally but nothing is
    copied.
Using CEDA the command would fail.
    Keyword: CSDUP

Problem conclusion

  • DFHCUCOP has been changed so that the copy command will fail.
when the source group does not contain the resource being
    copied.

The CICS Knowledge Center for CICS TS V5.3 and V5.4 will be
    updated with new message DFH5298:

DFH5298 E resource object IS NOT IN GROUP grpname.

    Explanation

The CSD utility detected an attempt to copy a resource which did
not exist in the named group, where:

resource is the type of resource

object is the name of the resource

grpname is the name of the group.

    System action

The utility does not process the COPY command.

    User response

Check that you have coded the group and resource names
    correctly.
